Libethenite with Pseudomalachite (ex Bob Reynolds Collection)

A hard to find specimen of the rare copper hydroxy phosphate from the Mindola Pit of the Nkana Mine in Zambia. Mineral specimens of any variety are rare from this lesser known copper and cobalt mine. This attractive small miniature sized features many sharp, lustrous, deep emerald green Libethenite crystals measuring up to 3 mm on matrix. Micro blue-green Pseudomalachite can be seen under magnfication. Great quality and hard to find on the market! There was a short time period in the 1970s when this locality produced what are easily the world's finest examples of Libethenite ever found. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds, with a label from well-known rarities deal, Joe Vajdak. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
