Item Description
Lustrous, opaque, deep-green, mm-size crystals of Libethenite completely line multiple vugs in this Quartz matrix, from the TYPE LOCALITY in Lubietova, Slovakia. This ancient copper deposit has been known since the Bronze Age (c. 3200-600 BC). These specimens are not terribly common on the market today, and scintillating, rich Libethenites from theLubietova are always in high demand. Better in person. Initially acquired from A. Berger of Vienna. These pieces are part of a century-old Italian collection that was recently acquired. Its historic nature, aside from the sheer age of the specimens, is reflected in how dramatically geopolitical borders have changed since these labels were created.
