Item Description

A hard to find classic specimen of the rare copper phosphate Libethenite from the Tyrone Mine in New Mexico. Typically, one only sees micro "crusts" of Libethenite crystals from this mine, but there are some good quality crystals (albeit fairly small) on this piece that you can see with the naked eye. The color is a deep electric green hue, similar to Atacamite, and the piece looks wonderful under magnification. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9984). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
