Item Description
A fine sparkling specimen of a very rare combination of mineral species, featuring two copper minerals intergrown and just shimmering with color. This is a large plate of this rare material! It is from the type locality for sieleckiite and was collected by Rob Sielecki, and comes with his label as well. These specimens were found in 1986 from the oxidized zone at the Mt Oxide copper mine, 150 kilometres north of Mt Isa in Queensland, Australia. Rob sold it to Bob Reynolds, who had such a diverse copper suite, and it was presumably sold as a locality turquoise specimen because it is one of those very few localities with sharp (although tiny) turquoise crystals! Plates of this size are uncommon. Valued $1000-plus.
