Item Description
Libethenite is a highly desirable species from the historic mines of Cornwall. This extremely rich and sculptural large old-time piece has numerous interconnected vugs fully lined with sparkly sharp blackish-green orthorhombic crystals. Close examination under bright light shows that many of the crystals are gem emerald-green. The sculptural oxide-coated vuggy quartz matrix adds color contrast and pizzazz to this exceptional and rich old-timer from an East Coast collection and formerly in the Al Sebela Collection. Seldom on the market in this richness and quality from this Cornwall district. Although some were found into the 1900s, most should date from the heyday here in the mid to late 1800s. The piece has two fine display views without aid. Calued over $1000
