Item Description

From a well-known mine in Zambia that seems to have produced little in the way of specimens except for world class Libethenite, this is an attractive, high quality Libethenite crystal that was once well protected within a pocket. The Libethenites have a deep, sometimes iridescent, green color and superb luster. This large 1.4 cm crystal (or maybe cluster) has a fan-like habit not unlike many of the Adamites you see, particularly the famous Cuprian variety. Specimens of this quality came out in the 1970s, and the Nkana mine closed in the 1980s. Considered to be some of the finest examples of this uncommon copper phosphate species for the unusually robust and large crystals produced here, this is a balanced and very aesthetic miniature.
