Item Description
Leucite is a potassium aluminum silicate mineral, that rarely occurs in gem quality crystals. Most Leucites you'll see on the market are translucent at best, so it's quite rare to find material suitable for cutting fine gems. Italy has produced a fair amount of Leucite over the years, but still transparent pieces that are large enough to cut stones are hard to find. This is one of the VERY few faceted gems that we have offered in the auctions from Italy. The stone is nearly colorless (a very pale yellow color), and is very very slightly included with a "Round" cut. If you're a rare stone collector, do not miss out on this gem, as it is the only one we have to offer. The fact that the stone is nearly a full carat is a big deal, especially in this quality.
