Lepidolite is a desirable and uncommon accessory mineral from the famous Little Three Mine, which has produced some of the North America's finest spessartine as well as (less commonly) natural blue topaz crystals and excellent tourmaline, schorl and smoky quartz specimens. Lepidolite is usually a bystander, but here it is the main act! This outstanding and rare large combination is highlighted by "books" of sharp, violet lepidolite plates and well-placed gemmy, glassy smoky quartz crystals, to 4.0 cm. Schorl sections are also visible in the matrix, adding more character. This exceptional and rare large combination dates to the Louis Spalding collecting era of the 1970s and 80s.
