Item Description

How often does one see a Lepidolite specimen from Maine on the market?? It must be noted that Lepidolite is no longer a valid mineral species, and according to the scattered information we found, Lepidolite is defined asaA mineral in the so-called Polylithionite-Trilithionite series. Webmineral.com still reports that it's a valid species, and the IMA list online ( http://pubsites.uws.edu.au/ima-cnmnc/IMA2009-01%20UPDATE%20160309.pdf ) says that Lepidolite is a group name. Regardless, this piece is a beautiful curved cluster of lilac purple Lepidolite forming a great small cabinet from this historic locality. Please note that the piece is polished on the base. If you collect minerals from Maine, or more specifically Mica, don't miss out on this attractive piece. The piece comes with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address, it dates to 1946-1957.
