A impressive and most sculptural large cluster of lepidolite crystals from the famous pegmatites at Virgem da Lapa. The orange-brown oxide "skin" of the striking variably-sized, parallel-growth layered columnals enhances the fantastic multitude of pearlescent lilac termimations. They looks like stalactites! The one broken termination reveals the true color of the lepidolite, adding character and pizzazz. Specimens of this size, richness and style are rare from here. Undoubtedly older material from the 1960s or 70s finds. The piece looks great from three sides. From an East Coast Collection and comes with an Alfred Stevenson label.
