Item Description

A beautiful group of violet-purple Lepidolite from the Coronel Murta area in Brazil. The crystals are wonderfully well-formed, showing slender columnar form with slight transclucency when backlit. This is a good quality Lepidolite, with virtually no pink color whatsoever, it is almost pure purple, which is uncommon in my experience with the material. Now it must be noted that Lepidolite is no longer a valid mineral species, and according to the scattered information we found, Lepidolite is defined as a mineral in the so-called Polylithionite-Trilithionite series. Webmineral.com still reports that it's a valid species, and the IMA list online ( http://pubsites.uws.edu.au/ima-cnmnc/IMA2009-01%20UPDATE%20160309.pdf ) Nonetheless, do not miss out on this great Brazilian display piece, as good specimens of Lepidolite (or any Mica species) are not common on the market, especially with THIS kind of color.
