Item Description
This area has produced some very attractive gem pegmatite crystals, but most people don't think of it as a big Lepidolite producer. Now it must be noted that Lepidolite is no longer a valid mineral species, and according to the scattered information we found, Lepidolite is defined as a A mineral in the so-called Polylithionite-Trilithionite series. Webmineral.com still reports that it's a valid species, and the IMA list online ( http://pubsites.uws.edu.au/ima-cnmnc/IMA2009-01%20UPDATE%20160309.pdf ) says that Lepidolite is a group name. Regardless, this piece is a beautiful slice / cleavage of dual-colored Mica with a purple "Lepidolite" rind and a golden core of what is more than likely Muscovite. Very attractive with beautiful form and coloration.
