Item Description
This mine has produced some very attractive gem pegmatite crystals, but most people don't think of the Little Three as a big Lepidolite producer. Now it must be noted that Lepidolite is no longer a valid mineral species, and according to the scattered information we found, Lepidolite is defined asaA mineral in the so-called Polylithionite-Trilithionite series. Webmineral.com still reports that it's a valid species, and the IMA list online ( http://pubsites.uws.edu.au/ima-cnmnc/IMA2009-01%20UPDATE%20160309.pdf ) says that Lepidolite is a group name. Regardless, this piece is a beautiful cluster of soft lilac purple groups of translucent Lepidolite forming a great full-sized thumbnail from this historic locality. If you collect San Diego County minerals, or pegmatite minerals, don't miss out on this attractive piece.
