Lemon Quartz (custom faceted by Brett Kosnar)

This stone has a unique cut that resembles the shape of an eye, and is rightfully named "Cleopatra's Eye". This material is referred to as "Lemond Quartz" which is essentially Citrine that is heated to enhance the color. This practice is completely safe and accepted throughout the gem trade, as long as the buyer knows that they are buying a stone with treatment. The stone was faceted by Brett Kosnar in 2010, from a large piece of rough that he spent over 6 hours just cutting and polishing. The result is this large, brilliant and well made stone weighing almost 45 cts! A fantastic stone that would make for a unique piece of jewelry, or a great addition to a custom gem collection.
