Item Description

This is a fine quality and very rarely seen specimen of Lemanskiite, a notably rare hydrated sodium calcium copper arsenate, found in less than 10 places on earth. This mineral was named for Chet Lemanski, a well-known collector from New Jersey, and former President of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society. The species was approved in 1999, but it wasn't actually published until 2006. Lemanskiite is well known for its beautiful blue color, which comes from the fact that it's a dimorph of Lavendulan, another vibrant blue mineral. This piece features strong blue colored "sprays" of Lemanskiite on matrix from the type locality! The light green mineral is Lammerite according to the accompanying label. VERY hard to find on the market these days, especially in such rich examples like this.
From the collection of John Dagenais (#JD-790), and originally from Trinity Minerals.
