Item Description

Here we have a very rarely seen specimen of Lemanskiite, a scarce hydrated sodium calcium copper arsenate, found in less than 10 places on earth. This mineral was named for New Jersey collector, and former President of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society, Chet Lemanski. The species was approved in 1999, but it wasn't actually published until 2006. Lemanskiite is well known for its beautiful blue color, which comes from the fact that it's a dimorph of Lavendulan, another vibrant blue mineral. This piece features a rich layer of strong blue colored Lemanskiite on matrix from the type locality! VERY hard to find on the market these days.
From the collection of Paolo Matioli and originally from the collection of R. Carlini of Rome.
