Leightonite (TYPE LOCALITY)

This specimen is a rich large display sized specimen from the TYPE LOCALITY for Leightonite, which is an uncommon hydrated, potassium, calcium, copper sulfate. The display side of the specimen has an abundant amount of attractive, tiffany-blue Leightonite, much of it amorphous but still a hefty percentage crystalline. These bladed crystals are GEMMY and lustrous, and range up to about 3mm. Lovely to the eye, and the contrast with the matrix is soft and very appealing. This is old material, as well, and seldom available! It probably dates to the early 1900s heyday for Chuqui, among the most unique and interesting copper deposits in the world. Valued over $1000, I would think, due to size and richness...have not seen comparable for sale.
