When it comes to some of the great combinations of rarity and beauty in the mineral world, Legrandite is certainly high up on the list. The specimens from the famous Ojuela Mine are unquestionably in the top tier of true classics from any locality, and stand as one of the greatest mineral discoveries extant. I would say that one of the most legendary mineral specimens in the world is the famous "Aztec Sun" Legrandite from this mine, not only the best Legrandite in the world, but maybe one of the top 10 mineral specimens ever found, especially when the rarity of the species is taken into consideration. Legrandite is a highly sought after zinc arsenate species, truly found in only a few places in the world in fine crystallized examples. This in a wonderful miniature sized piece of this desirable rarity. The piece features a rich golden-yellow color group of Legrandite measuring perched atop Limonite matrix. The crystals measure to about 3 mm, but when you view them up close, you can see the fantastic textbook form, and nearly water-clear transparency. Good specimens of Legrandite are seldom seen on the market, and I don't have to tell you that fine specimens sell for huge money these days. It's hard to get your hands on a showy matrix display specimen of Legrandite from this locality, and this little beauty would make a fine addition to any collection, especially if you like to view pieces under the microscope.
