One of the most desirable minerals in the world is Legrandite from the famous Ojuela Mine in Mexico. The finest examples of this beautiful and highly sought after rare zinc arsenate species were found decades ago at Ojuela and remain as one of the most magnificent mineral discoveries in history. This thumbnail specimen hosts individual crystals and an almost "jackstraw"-esque group of fine, sharp, lustrous, glowing yellow color, monoclinic "blades" and "sword"-shaped crystals of Legrandite measuring up to 5 mm sitting in an exposed vug of Limonite matrix. The color is as good as it gets for the species, and if you look closely, you can see some of the crystals are actually GEM QUALITY in areas! Some of the crystals are not fully terminated, because they grew against the edge of the pocket, but you can see there are crystals with superb, pristine, textbook terminations! Good specimens of Legrandite are seldom seen on the market, and I don't have to tell you that fine specimens sell for huge money these days. Legrandite is really known from only a handful of localities in good quality specimens, but none of them are anywhere as significant as those from Mapimi, so don't miss out on this classic specimen from this world famous locality.
