When it comes to the topmost sought after rare colorful species in the world of minerals, Legrandite specimens from the famous Ojuela Mine in Mexico are always very high on the list. It's important to note that the finest crystals of this beautiful and desirable rare zinc arsenate species were found decades ago at Ojuela, but they still stand out as one of the most magnificent mineral discoveries in history. Recently another small discovery was made with some attractive crystals that are actually excellent quality. This thumbnail sized specimen hosts several beautiful, sharp, lustrous, glowing yellow color, gemmy, monoclinic "blades" and "sword"-shaped crystals of Legrandite measuring up to 1.2 cm sitting on Limonite matrix. The color in the smaller crystals is as good as it gets for the species, and if you look closely, you can see some of them are actually GEM QUALITY in areas! Some of the crystals are not fully terminated, because they grew against the edge of the pocket, but you can see there are crystals with superb, pristine, textbook terminations! Please note that the largest crystal on the specimen is actually lying flat against the matrix on the upper / back portion of the specimen. Good specimens of Legrandite are seldom seen on the market, and I don't have to tell you that fine specimens sell for huge money these days. Legrandite is really known from only a handful of localities in good quality specimens, but none of them are anywhere as significant as those from Mapimi, so don't miss out on this classic specimen from this world famous locality.
