Item Description

Legrandite is a rare and sought after zinc arsenate mineral, named after Louis Legrand, who found the first specimens in Mexico in the 1930s. This mineral is one of the great combinations of rarity and beauty of any species. It's one of those minerals that is almost exclusively connected to a single locality, in this case, the famed Ojuela Mine in Mexico. This rare and highly sought after zinc arsenate species is certainly among the most desirable treasures in the mineral collecting world. This thumbnail specimen features attractive yellow color Legrandite crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm, partially included with brown Limonite. The piece is actually almost solid Legrandite, and the brown areas are not matrix, they're actually all Legrandite crystals. Good quality, no major damage that I can find, and it's actually close to being a "floater" specimen, as it's crystallized all over. If you've ever wanted an attractive representative piece with good sized crystals that won't break the bank, this is a nice opportunity to pick up something that is seldom seen on the market, and I don't have to tell you that fine specimens sell for huge money these days.
