Item Description
Leadhillite is a signature species for this famous Arizona deposit. Specimens are incredibly hard to come by! Glassy, translucent, pretty powder-blue crystals are richly set on both sides of the sculptural matrix. The striking, isolated, pseudohexagonal prism is 6 mm tall and the tiny white crystals are cerussite. Tiger is world-famous for its colorful secondary ore minerals, and pieces like this are extremely difficult to find on the open market today because they date back to the 1960s or prior. They are only found in old collections. Heavy lead ore for the size, this showy miniature is a display quality for the species and locality. It is hard to value such rarities, especially when beautiful and old, but a market price of $1500-2000 would not make me blink if I saw it sitting on an Arizona specialist dealer's shelf at Tucson. So few come to market.
