Lazurite with Phlogopite & Marialite

Classic ultramarine-blue lazurite crystals with rich coverage on the sculptural, large, mounded, combination matrix from this ancient mining area dating back 9000 years. The beautiful, isolated, sharp, dominating dodecahedron at the top is 3.3 cm across. There is Pyrite in the matrix, a common accessory. Fluorescent minerals are a BONUS in the piece. The matrix includes Phlogopite Mica, orange LW UV fluorescence on the front and back and the granular matrix on the back hosts much Marialite, a Scapolite Group Species, with yellow SW UV fluorescence. The two noted, bruised lazurite crystals on the left edge and in the center of lazurite crystal cluster are certainly modest detractions to the overall impressive and aesthetic quality of the piece.
