Item Description

An extremely rare and showy pseudomorph from the Type Locality of lazurite. Bright blue lazurite has partially pseudomorphed, sharp, hexagonal "books" of pearlescent, bladed mica var. Phlogopite. The large pseudo is 1.0 cm and they are well-placed on the starkly contrasting marble matrix. The MINDAT mineral list for Sar-e Sang has muscovite crossed out, but this dates from when they first came out and Herb had it labelled as another mica varietal, in any cases one of the rarer pseudomorphs. Ex Herb Obodda dealer. Leave it to Herb to find such a rarity.
