Lazurite on Marble

Item Description

An excellent and aesthetic specimen of vivid, azure-blue lazurite crystal jauntily set on contrasting marble matrix from the Type Locality - Sar-e-Sang, Afghanistan. The 2.6 x 2.5 cm crystal has sharp faces, moderate to matte luster, and textbook, 4-sided, orthorhombic crystal form. The top, one side, part of the back and the base have been sawed and partially roughed up again, to enhance the display. The lazurite, crystal is pristine, except for the few scratchs from prep work on the back, which are out of sight. Valued at $450 for the sharp quality and aesthetics.
