Lazurite

A large cabinet specimen with outstanding coverage of rich ultramarine-blue Lazurite groupings on white marble. The size and coverage alone would make this a rich and museum-worthy display specimen of this ancient material that has been mined for 9000 years. However, as an added bonus this Lazurite specimen has several mineral associations that makes it an unusual combination and very fluorescent: While it is common to have pyrite and golden phlogopite mica (fluor-orange) it is rare to have a layer of granular calcite crystals (fluor- kiwi green) and also possibly nepheline (fluor- light blue). A collection-worthy specimen that is a highly representative sample of the species and locale, from modern finds at an ancient locality. This is big and hefty, at several pounds.
