Item Description
The finest specimens of Lazulite in the world are those from Rapid Creek. This rare magnesium aluminum phosphate is not often seen in fine quality, good sized crystals from any locality, but the Rapid Creek specimens are famous for their size and quality. The area around Rapid Creek is still actively being collected, but it is only accessible for a few months of the year in the summer, and it's inaccessible under snow and ice the rest of the time. Even when collecting takes place, it's not easy as this is some of the most treacherous terrain in the world for collecting specimens. This large miniature specimen featuring fine quality, sharp, lustrous, very well formed, monoclinic, deep inky blue color crystals of Lazulite measuring up to a full 1.0 cm with minor matrix. There is some damage on this piece, so it's not pristine, but there are some good sized crystals, some of which show brilliant blue internal highlights when backlit.
