Item Description

Here we have a classic example of the fairly elusive, yet desirable and well-known di-pyramidal crystals of Lazulite from the famous locality at Graves Mountain. This locality is best known for its superb Rutile crystals, but the Lazulites hold their own in terms of size and morphology. These Lazulites are very distinctive and are some of the best-known examples of the species from any US locale. This large thumbnail / toenail sized piece hosts a single, sharp, well-formed, euhedral, powdery blue colored crystal measuring 2.4 cm, sitting on Pyrophyllite matrix. No major damage, and the piece actually does sit on its own without a base or clay. These are highly sought after and rarely seen these days, so if you collect phosphates, thumbnails or minerals of the United States, don't miss out on this little beauty.
Ex Brian Kosnar specimen.
