Item Description

Lazulite is a rare magnesium aluminum phosphate, and some of the finest, highly sought after, and best known specimens of this material come from the Yukon Territory in Canada. The area around Rapid Creek is only accessible for a few months in the summer for collecting (it's under snow and ice the rest of the year), and is some of the most treacherous terrain in the world for collecting specimens. This specimen is a nice overall display piece featuring good quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, very well formed, monoclinic, deep inky blue color crystals of Lazulite measuring up to 8 mm on matrix. A few gemmy brown Siderite rhombs and colorless gem Quartz crystals can be seen as well. Despite some broken crystals, this is still a decent quality specimen of this classic material.
