Item Description

Lazulite is a rare magnesium aluminum phosphate, and some of the finest, most highly sought after, and best known specimens of this material come from a handful of localities in the Yukon Territory. The area around Rapid Creek is only accessible for a few months in the summer for collecting (it's under snow and ice the rest of the year), and is some of the most treacherous terrain in the world for collecting specimens. This specimen is a fantastic overall display piece featuring good sized, very sharp, highly lustrous, very well formed, monoclinic, deep inky blue color crystals of Lazulite measuring up to 8 mm on matrix. Minor associated Quartz can be seen as well. Many of the Lazulite crystals are in great shape, but there are some dings here and there, so it's not completely damage free. Valued in the inventory at $700.
