Item Description
Lazulite is a rare magnesium aluminum phosphate, and some of the finest, highly sought after, and best known specimens of this material come from this locality. The area around Rapid Creek is only accessible for a few months in the summer for collecting (it's under snow and ice the rest of the year), and is some of the most treacherous terrain in the world for collecting specimens. This specimen is a good overall piece featuring very sharp, lustrous, well formed, monoclinic, very dark greenish-blue (nearly black) crystals of Lazulite measuring up to 1.2 cm associated with golden Siderite on matrix. Fine quality and beautiful when backlit.
