Item Description

Lawsonite is a rare aluminosilicate, and some of the most famous specimen are those from California. This piece is from the well-known Reed Station locality and features soft lilac-purple colored sharp, orthorhombic crystals of Lawsonite associated with schist matrix. The piece comes to us from an old East Coast collection, and comes with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address, it dates to 1946-1957.
