Item Description
Lawsonite is a rare aluminosilicate, named in 1895 after Professor Andrew Lawson of the University of California. Some of the best-known examples are those from the type locality, Reed Station in Marin County. This piece features soft lilac-blue colored sharp, orthorhombic crystals of Lawsonite measuring up to 6 mm across, associated with minor schist on matrix. A good example of this historic material that is rarely seen for sale in today's market.
Ex Gerry Morvell Collection.
