Item Description
A rare specimen of the hydrated sodium calcium copper arsenate, Lavendulan from the famous Hilarion Mine in Lavrion, Greece. Mineralogically speaking, this mineral is monoclinic and is a dimorph of tetragonal Lemanskiite, plus it's also the calcium analogue of Zdenekite and the arsenate analogue of Sampleite for what it's worth. The brilliant blue color is what makes this material so desirable, and under the microscope, you can see some interesting detail. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased.
