Item Description

In the American southwest, along with northern Mexico, you'll find many different localities that produce these gorgeous Chalcedony specimens. The colors typically range from pink to lavender/lilac and they form in pleasing shapes, typically somewhat spherical or variations thereof. Recently some friends of ours collected these beautiful Chalcedony specimens from their brand new claim a few months ago in Arizona. We selected a handful of what we considered to be the best specimens from the lot and we're throwing some in the auctions to give everybody a chance to get their hands on one. This piece is a unique and very eye-catching piece featuring lovely lavender to pinkish colored Chalcedony that has formed in an eye-catching formation that almost resembles an old military helmet or some kind of mollusk shell, sitting on minor matrix. The piece is actually somewhat translucent when backlit, and could be considered for lapidary use, but I would condone destroying a nice specimen like this. The color and form truly draw your attention, as the piece at first glance might remind one of something organic. The piece fluoresces a BRIGHT NEON green hue under SW UV light. For those who collect Quartz and its numerous varieties, or for anybody interesting in colorful specimens from the southwestern United States, don't miss out on this one, it's better than most Chalcedony you'll see on the market, especially from the standpoint of color and quality.
