Item Description
Laumontite is a zeolite group mineral, hydrated calcium aluminum silicate. The finest California examples come from this large, extinct, tungsten-moly mine. This cutie is a parallel-growth pair of crystals with sharp terminations and creamy-yellow color Pristine. Usually these specimens disintegrate over time, but this seems remarkably stable, and I am sure the piece has been lightly coated with a shellac to ensure it stays that way. Fine material from the Jaime Bird Collection.
