Item Description
Highly lustrous, tabular, butterscotch-colored wulfenite crystals to 9 mm totally cover this impressive and sculptural large plate from this famous Mexican wulfenite locality. The crystals have faint, "sandwich-style" color zoning, adding character. The wulfies rest on a starkly contrasting, banded white crust that is much harder than calcite or barite (chalcedony?). There are less than five broken crystals in the interior and modest periphery wear is noted. Certainly acceptable within the context of the crystal density and specimen size. This is a striking and excellent large older example of the species from this noted locale. Valued at $2000.
