Item Description
Rich, impressive and classic large older wavellite from famous Mauldin Mountain. Variable rich mint-green, lustrous, translucent botryoids strikingly cover the sculptural large sawed brecciated chert matrix. The botryoids reach 2.3 cm and the broken botyroids reveal the striking radial growth of the bi-colored shimmering chatoyant acicular crystals, adding much character. Ex Don Owens Collection. Don was the Chief Geologist at the old Union Carbide vanadium mine in Arkansas, that operated intermittently from 1941 to 1986 (mindat) and we recently obtained his collection. Older specimens of this size and richness are rare and are seldom on the market today.
