Item Description
Mohawkite is a RARE mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper (and possibly further species) (MINDAT). It is unique to two mines in Copper Country, with the Mohawk Mine being the Type Locality. Massive large specimens, such as this, are RARE because the rich ore was smelted or as seen generally today, it is polished as a lapidiary object to bring out the rich golden-coppery color. The bit of attached calcite (fluorescent) adds contrast. Hefty rich ore at 681 grams or 1.5 pounds mass. Rare old large mohawkite from the Bob Hauck Collection.
