Item Description
An impressive and rich large sulfur and aragonite combination from one of the most famous Agrigento Province sulfur mines. The elongate matrix hosts a striking, rolling sculptural vug richly and aesthetically filled with numerous, isolated, gorgeous, sharp, gemmy, lemon-yellow crystals, to 2.2 cm. The nubby, bubbly, botryoidal pastel-pink aragonite lining the vug is a stark and dramatic contrast to the yellow of sulfur crystals. The septa in the vug with sulfur crystals on both sides is particularly noteworthy. This is a very fine large combination piece from the Raul Orellana Collection and displays well from either side. Bright pink aragonite fluorescence. Valued at $2000-2500 for size, richness, crystal isolation and aesthetics.
