Item Description
Classic "ruby spinel" octahedrons from Mogok of this huge size are very rare and desirable. The lustrous, partially gemmy, floater crystal has rich cherry-red color, which the backlit photos strikingly highlight. The etched "caverns" on the sides add much character. Pristine, except for the contact at the base of the octo. SELDOM will you see a Mogok spinel of this classic color in this very large size AND with symmetry preserved. 73 grams. A major specimen from the Dr. Ed David Collection, which sold to me in 2005. Valued at $2500 even then, and worth it.
