Item Description

An impressive large old-time rubyjack sphalerite with chalcopyrite and galena combination from the famous Tri-State District. It comes with a Boodle Lane label, dated November 6, 1937. Boodle was the most famous Tri-State mineral dealer of them all (he died in 1962). Sharp, lustrous, golden iridescent chalcopyrite sphenoids are richly peppered on the front of the sculptural 3-dimensional specimen of nearly solid crystallized sphalerite. The imposing large doubly terminated crystal on the left side is 6.5 cm long. Scattered galena cubes and sections, especially the 1.0 cm frosted cube nicely set at the top of the piece are typical accessories. There are three more sharp cubes on the back and side of the outstanding combination old-timer with a fine provenance. The Barr Mine of Kansas is one of many lesser known Tri-State mines and specimens from here are rare. Ex George Feist Collection # 892. Classic Tri-State combination material valued at $750-1000. 4.4 pounds or 2 kilos mass.
