A superb, large, old-time sphalerite combination from the famous Joplin Field and the Bob Trimingham Collection. An impressive, large and pristine, 8.0 x 7.0 x 6.0 cm, lustrous, jet-black, stepped-growth sphalerite crystal with three attendant smaller crystals is dramatically set on the sculptural, saddle-shaped, dolomite rhomb matrix festooned with tiny, golden, chalcopyrite sphenoids. This is undoubtably the finest large Tri-State sphalerite we have offered at auction. Specimens of this quality are normally reserved for the Gallery. Valued at $2000.
