Sharp, moderately lustrous, dark gray sphalerite crystals are very aesthetically scattered in clusters or as isolated crystals on the front of this impressive, large, old-time plate from the famous Tri-State District. Sparkly chalcopyrite microcrystals are a nice accent. The back of the chert matrix is a TOTALLY different story! Here, saddle-shaped dolomite crystals totally cover the chert and are accented with just two sphalerite crystals. The rich peppering of sparkly to iridescent to corroded chalcopyrite crystals or sphenoids adds much character. Classic and really excellent, two-sided combination material from the Howard Belsky Collection. 4.4 pounds or 2 kilos.
