large Smoky Quartz (rare CA locale)

Item Description

RARE and impressive large tapered smoky quartz crystal from this obscure locality on Little Cahuilla Mountain - Holiday Hill. The prism is quite gemmy and has satin luster stepped-growth faces. The offset pyramidal termination is a highlight. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. The tip has very trivial bruising and the two impressions below the termination, where other crystals once lay, have no damage, per se and actually add character. Probably self-collected by Bob Reynolds. Bob was a huge field collector in California and had a broad collection, including many such historic locales. He was the curator of the San Bernardino Museum. A VERY RARE and fine large smoky quartz crystal from the obscure California locale.
