Item Description

A dramatic large cluster of glassy terminated smoky quartz crystals is aesthetically set on clay-coated pegmatitic matrix on this impressive large specimen from the Orellana Collection. The gemmy, transparent to translucent, rich smoky crystals reach 10.3 cm. The crystals are very nearly pristine, with only gentle bruising noted. Mineral specimens of any species are uncommon from the pegmatites in this area and high quality smoky quartz specimens are rare. Very choice and rare large material. 11.7 pounds or 5.3 kilos mass.
