Item Description
Wow! A huge, important, floater, smoky quartz crystal from the classic old North Carolina mines, and later the Ed David Collection. Morion quartz is a very dark brown to black opaque variety of quartz and this is, indeed, an exceptionally dark color for this locality. This is a dramatic and striking, CABINET single crystal. The glassy, highly lustrous, translucent crystal superficially looks like it is di-pyramidal with no prism faces. This is old material from the famous Hiddenite area of North Carolina. This very fine, large, complete-all-around, floater specimen is very nearly pristine. The termination has minute, barely noticeable edgewear. One side and the base are contacted, but there is very, very little damage, per such a piece. An outstanding, large North Carolina smoky quartz! Valued at $1500
