Item Description
An impressive large curved crust of rich yellow bubbly banded smithsonite botryoids from this small and rare find in Wenshan, known for outstanding hemimorphite, calcite and aragonite specimens. These were found around 2002-2003 and set aside until recently. The yellow color is thought to be caused by cadmium and this strongly resembles old classic and expensive smithsonite from Italy, but at far less cost. The banded smithsonite turns gray underneath the yellow on top of the sulfide-rich bit of matrix. RARE material in this size and quality. 2084 grams or 4.6 pounds mass. Valued at $2000 for rareness, size and quality
