Item Description
Minerals specimens are RARE from the Juanita Mine compared to those from the nearby renowned Kelly Mine. This is an EXTREMELY RARE, large, impressive, sculptural and rich specimen with two generations of smithsonite. Underlying white botryoids are exposed beneath the striking, rich crust of shimmering, baby-blue bubbly botryoids on the massive quartz matrix. A few clustered very glassy colorless, hard-to-see calcite crystals are a fine accessory. This significant New Mexico rarity has several fine display views. An important and rare large Juanita Mine smithsonite, collected in 1979. Ex Tom Hales Collection. Value?? We feel in the $1500-2000 range is fair, due to rarity, size and quality. A MUST for the locality or species collector.
