Pretty lavender, juicy, waxy bubbly smithsonite botryoids fully line the dramatic curved vug on the sculptural large banded silicified matrix from the closed El Refugio Mine. The back hosts a nice bonus with vugs hosting different colored smithsonite botryoids. Old - 1960s or 1970s vintage. Outstanding, large and classic material from this essentially mined out locale, that was documented in a 2011 Mineralogical Record Special Issue. Many of us consider them much more beautiful than botryoidal smithsonite from nearly all other localities. Ex Gary Weaver Collection. 6.0 pounds or 2.8 kilos mass.
